A conversation, not a checkbox

Consent & boundaries.

Shared expectations need clear communication. Keep consent specific, ongoing, and open to change throughout the work.

01

Be specific before you agree

Discuss the proposed activities, participants, set conditions, and recording plans. Ask questions instead of treating a previous collaboration as permission for a new one.

02

Separate performance from publication

Discuss where footage may appear, how it may be edited, and whether promotional clips or stills are included. Put agreements in writing and get qualified advice when you need help understanding a contract.

03

Make stopping straightforward

Agree on words or signals that mean pause and stop. If anyone withdraws consent, stop the activity. Payment, a deadline, or time already spent never makes someone obligated to continue.

04

Check in when plans change

A new participant, activity, or camera setup deserves a new conversation. Do not assume silence means agreement. Leave room for an unpressured answer.
